The Black Panther pepper is a hybrid of the Pimenta da Neyde and Bhut Jolokia Ghost Pepper. It boasts incredibly dark foliage, with leaves that turn almost jet black under direct sunlight. This unique coloration is due to the high concentration of anthocyanins, often referred to as purple pigments.

The pepper pods begin as a profound black and gradually mature, transitioning through hues of orange and green speckles, finally settling into a deep red with black speckling.
